Warning: You must not obstruct the side impact airbags. If
your seat has side impact airbags and your seat cover has not been properly
modified either with velcro or a cutout, DO NOT INSTALL this cover. It could
interfere with the deployment of the side impact airbags. Please call the
company at 800-453-8830 for more information. We will make the necessary
modifications to accommodate the airbags.
Warning: The National Highway
Traffic and Safety Administration recommends that passengers under the age of
12 not travel in the front seat of motor vehicle.
The National
Highway Traffic and Safety Administration also requires new light-duty vehicles
to be equipped with advanced airbag sensors that detect a front passenger's
body weight. In case of a frontal crash, if a front passenger's body weight is
less than 70 pounds, a sensor deactivates airbag deployment to avoid causing
death or serious injury that may result from the force of an airbag deployment.
The extra
weight of an aftermarket seat cover may be detected by an advanced airbag
sensor as part of a passenger's body weight. This extra weight could cause an
airbag to deploy in case of a frontal crash if a person's body weight is
slightly less than 70 pounds because the sensor may add the aftermarket seat
cover's weight to that of the passenger and thus assume that a front
passenger's body weight is actually more than 70 pounds. A front passenger
airbag may cause death or serious injury to a person who weighs less than 70
pounds.
A.
Front Bucket Backs
1.
Remove adjustable
headrests before installing. (See section C for removal details) Turn
backrests inside out, line up the top of the seat cover with the top of the
seat and pull the cover down on the seat a little at a time to get a smooth,
snug, straight fit.
2.
Push the flap
with velcro or vinyl through where the backrest and bottom meet.
3.
Pull the flap
from the front to the back to get a good form fit on the front side. Seal the
velcro together.
4.
Manipulate the
cover so that the seams are aligned to match the original seat. If necessary,
tighten and re-seal the velcro.
* If you
have adjustable headrests or lumbar supports on the backrest, cutouts will be
provided.
* * Poly
back seat covers will not have cutouts for headrests or controls. These can be
cut with an exacto knife or sharp scissors after the seat cover is in place.
Cut an X slightly smaller than needed and stretch the poly fabric around the
opening. The poly will not tear if you are careful.
B.
Front Bucket Bottom
1.
Lay the bottom piece on the seat
cushion and push the flap through where the bottom and the backrest meet.
2.
Pull the flap
from the front to the back to get a snug fit. On the front, make sure the seams
around the edges are aligned to the shape of the seat.
3.
If you have
electric seats, there will be cutouts provided. To get a clean look, tuck the
opening around the plastic panel.
4.
If you do not
have electric seats, just tuck the side skirt inside the plastic panel.
(Depending on your particular seat, some will tuck behind the plastic. A few
may cover over the plastic)
5.
Tuck the bottom
strings or elastic cords (depending on the model) through side corners to the
back of the cushion.
6.
On the models
with strings and velcro, tie one end to create a loop. Pull the string ends to
even lengths. Then feed the untied end through the loop.
7.
Before tying off
the bottom, make sure all the seams are aligned.
8.
Pull the string
to tighten and tie in a knot. Pull the flap over the strings and seal the
velcro onto the carpet on the bottom side of the seat.
9.
On models with
straps, buckles and elastic cords, secure the straps front to back, then pull
elastic cords through the side corner. Hook the cords to something solid under
the seat. (See Diagram of buckle for proper use)

* * Poly back seat covers
will not have cutouts for headrests or controls. These can be cut with an
exacto knife or sharp scissors after the seat cover is in place. Cut an X
slightly smaller than needed and stretch the poly fabric around the opening.
The poly will not tear if you are
careful. (Over)
C.
Installation of Headrest Covers
1. Most vehicles have a release button at the base of the post on
the plastic base. Depressing this will release the headrests so that they can
be pulled out. If there is no release button, look for a small hole on the
side of the plastic base. Straighten out a paper clip and insert one end to
release the headrest.
2.
To put the cover
on, squeeze the headrest together as you pull the headrest cover over the
headrest.
3.
Once the cover is
on, manipulate it to where the seams are aligned.
4.
Pull the front
and back flaps together and seal the velcro.
D.
Front and Rear Armrests
1.
Slide cover over the armrest. To
get a perfect fit, make sure the cover seams are aligned with the original
seams on the armrest.
2.
Once everything
is aligned, seal the opening on the back with the velcro.
3.
If you have cup
holders on the armrest, cutouts will be provided. To get a clean look, tuck
the material under the plastic lining around the cup holders. A few may cover
over the plastic.
E.
Rear Bottom Cushion
1. To make the installation process easier remove the
bottom cushion from
the vehicle. (In most cases the cushion can be released
and removed. Except 60/40 or 40/60 split
bottoms. If this is the case, install them the same as the front cushions)
2.
Lay the cover on
the bottom cushion and align the seams to the seams of the cushion. Flip it
over and match up the elastic straps.
3.
On the models
with straps, buckles and elastic cords, secure the straps from the bottom.
Then pull the elastic cords, hook them to each other or to something solid.
(See buckle diagram. Over)
4.
On the models
with strings, straps and buckles, tie one of the ends to create a loop: pull
the strings to even lengths. Then feed the untied end through the loop and
pull tight. Secure the straps front to back.
5.
Do not put the
rear seat cushions back in until after you install the backrest covers (see
G-8.)
F.
Rear Backrest (non-folding solid backrest)
1.
Installing the
non-folding solid backrest requires removing it from the vehicle. Undo the
bolts and push the front side of the backrest in to release it from the hook
lock and push upward to get it loose.
2.
Pull on the cover
and manipulate it so that the seams are aligned with the original seat.
3.
Secure the straps
top to bottom. Then hook the elastic cords to each other or to something
solid.
4.
Then reattach the
backrest into place and reinstall the bolts.
G.
Rear Backrest (folding with or without side bolsters)
1.
Installing the
folding backrest with bolsters requires removing the bolsters.
2.
Undo the bolts
and push the front side of the bolster in to release it from its hook lock and
push upward to get it loose. Remove the bolster. Lay the bolster cover on the
bolster.
3.
Secure the straps
and buckles side to side and top to bottom. Set aside and install the backrest
covers.
4.
Slip the cover
over the backrest and align the seams.
5.
If you have an
armrest, cutouts will be provided.
6.
Pull the cover
straight and snug, then seal the velcro or secure the straps.
7.
Reinstall the
bolster.
8.
To put the bottom
cushion back in the vehicle, make sure the seatbelt buckles and straps are fed
through the cutouts on the seat covers. Push the cushion bottom under the
backrest. Push in and downward to secure and latch in place.
H.
40/20/40 Front Seat
1.
Installing the 40
sections are the same as steps A,B,C.
2.
Place the 20
section in the upright position. Slide the cover on and align the edges and
seams. Fasten straps together or secure velcro.
3.
Lay the bottom of
the 20 section on the cushion. Push the straps through where the back and the
bottom meet.
4.
Pull the straps
from the front to the back to get a snug fit. Secure the straps.
